I’ve screamed in the past, and I know that if I continued they would damage my voice. I’m going to sing backup vocals/play bass in a death metal/emo band, and I need to know how to scream for extended periods of time without worry of losing my voice altogether. HELP!

Get a vocal coach… they will help you train your voice to do this without damaging it.

Hey I was scream singing in the garage with some friends for only about two songs and after that my voice was gone, and didn’t come back for about three hours. I didn’t feel like I was straining my voice and it didn’t hurt at all after or during my screaming. II scream from low in my throat and I hardly use my vocal chords at all, and I do it from my diaphagm. Am I doing something wrong here?

Simply but frankly -you can NOT scream without damaging your vocal chords!!
